Otupaiia Marine Park in Waitara is set to undergo a significant transformation, thanks to a $950,000 funding boost. This funding, provided by the Ministry for the Environment’s Freshwater Improvement Fund, will be used to enhance the park’s facilities, create better access, and improve the natural environment. The project aims to make the area more inviting for locals and visitors, while also restoring and protecting its natural habitats.
The upgrade will include planting native trees, constructing walkways, and installing seating areas to create a more enjoyable and sustainable space. The project is a collaborative effort between Te Atiawa, the New Plymouth District Council, and local community groups, reflecting a shared commitment to preserving and enhancing the area for future generations.
