- Planting Our Place
Planting Our Place
A community programme of biodiversity regeneration and restoration to support the sequestering of carbon and enable community participation in NPDC’s climate change response.
Planting Our Place is part of NPDC’s 10-year plan, working with mana whenua to establish 34 hectares of restored urban forest across our district. Over the course of two decades, the objective is to return native birdsong and biodiversity to our urban environments, whilst simultaneously sequestering carbon and cultivating a greener, healthier future for generations to come.
NPDC’s Te Korowai o Tāne grants will fund non-profit and community groups to plant native species on their own properties. The fund is open for applications all-year round from community and non-profit groups including schools, sports clubs, kōhanga rea, kindergartens, early childhood and play centres and marae.
